CalHue Privacy Policy
CalHue is provided by zojro. It lets you personalize the appearance of Google Calendar with event colors, palettes and a background image. This policy explains the information the extension handles and the choices available to you. It describes CalHue for Chrome. Google Calendar itself is covered by Google's own privacy policy.
Effective date: October 16, 2026
Information handled by the extension
CalHue reads information from Google Calendar pages to identify events, apply your chosen colors and preserve those colors when recurring events change. This includes event and calendar identifiers, displayed event titles, event dates and times, recurrence-related information, and time zones. Calendar identifiers can contain an email address or another identifier associated with a calendar.
CalHue observes interactions with calendar events and editing controls, such as opening a color menu, choosing a color, and confirming or cancelling a recurring-event edit. It uses these interactions to perform the requested feature, not to build an analytics or browsing-history profile.
When you select a background image, CalHue reads that selected file, resizes it when needed and converts it to JPEG in your browser. It does not gain access to other files on your device.
Information stored locally
CalHue uses extension-local storage in your Chrome profile to save:
- Event and series identifiers linked to your chosen colors, including individual-occurrence exceptions and reset information.
- Palette names, color values and visibility preferences.
- Your processed background image, veil and blur settings.
- Time-zone information associated with recurring event series.
- The installation date, used to recognize early supporters.
- A license key and its activation identifier, if you enter one.
- Temporary edit-matching information, which can include an event title, identifiers, time shifts and time zones.
- Whether the introductory tip has been completed or dismissed, and legacy settings retained for migration compatibility.
CalHue does not use Chrome Sync to synchronize these settings. It does not create a CalHue account or upload this extension data to a developer-operated server, except for the license verification described below. Browser-profile backups or other software on your device are outside CalHue's control.
Purpose and network activity
The extension uses this information only to provide and maintain its calendar appearance features. Your custom colors and background are local visual changes; they are not published to other calendar participants by CalHue.
To determine a recurring event's time zone, CalHue may temporarily load that event's Google Calendar editing page in a hidden frame within Google Calendar. It reads the time-zone information and removes the frame without saving an event edit. This loads a Google page over HTTPS using your existing Google session, and may cause the normal requests made by that page. Google handles those requests under its own policies. CalHue does not read or store your Google password, authentication cookies or access tokens.
CalHue has no analytics or data collection endpoint, advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or automated crash-reporting service. Its only request to a zojro server is license verification, described below. Its feature code is packaged with the extension. Apart from license verification, it does not send your calendar data, selected image or usage information to the developer.
Purchases and license keys
CalHue's free features don't send anything to us. If you buy CalHue Pro:
- Checkout happens on Creem, our Merchant of Record. Creem collects your payment details, email address and billing information under its own privacy policy. We receive order information from Creem (such as your email address, the purchase and the license key) to provide the license and support.
- When you enter a license key in CalHue, the extension sends the license key and a randomly generated installation identifier to a zojro server, which verifies it with Creem. No calendar data, event information or images are sent. The extension may re-verify the key occasionally.
- If you are an early supporter, your status is determined locally from the installation date stored in your Chrome profile. It is not sent to us.
Sharing and limited use
The developer does not receive or sell the calendar data and images processed locally by the extension, and does not use them for advertising, credit decisions or unrelated purposes. CalHue's use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
If you choose to contact support, the developer receives the contact details and message contents you send, including any attachments you include. They are used to respond to your request. Please avoid sending private calendar details or background images unless necessary for your request.
Retention and your choices
Saved colors, palettes, background settings and time-zone information remain in your Chrome profile until changed or removed, or until the extension is uninstalled. CalHue does not automatically detect and delete every local color record for an event deleted from Google Calendar.
Temporary edit-matching records have a 24-hour validity window. They may be cleared sooner when processing finishes or an edit is cancelled. Expired records are cleared when the calendar processing code next runs; closing Chrome does not guarantee deletion exactly at the 24-hour mark.
You can change event colors or use Reset to Google color in the event menu. For a recurring event, the selected scope determines which local override is reset. In the extension popup you can edit or delete custom palettes, hide preset palettes, replace a background image or remove it. Hiding or deleting a palette does not remove colors already assigned to events. Some legacy color-list settings remain locally for upgrade compatibility even after editing the current palettes.
To remove all CalHue extension-local data, uninstall CalHue from the Chrome profile where it is installed. Disabling the extension is not the same as uninstalling it. Refresh any already-open Google Calendar pages after removing a background or uninstalling the extension to discard the old page's in-memory appearance state. Removing CalHue does not delete your Google Calendar events.
Security
CalHue stores its settings in the browser's extension-local storage and does not implement a separate encryption layer for those local records. Device and browser-profile access controls therefore matter. The Google Calendar pages used by the extension are accessed over HTTPS.
Changes and contact
This policy describes the current extension. If future features change how information is handled, the policy and store disclosures will be updated before those features are released. The effective date will identify the updated policy.
